Helping with exams

Tutoring in Mauritania.

Our tutoring and educational support in Mauritania is set to help provide a bright future for students who grow up in the harsh environment on the edge of the Sahara Desert.

2,500 hours of tutoring

First Quantum has delivered more than 2,500 extra hours of tutoring for students preparing to sit national university entrance exams in Mauritania. The tutoring is part of First Quantum’s educational commitment to people in Mauritania, where we have been operating since 2004.

Under the program, we have also provided textbooks, improved evaluation and investment in basic – but much needed – school infrastructure including renovated classrooms and latrines. The tutoring and educational support is set to help provide a bright future for students who grow up in the harsh environment on the edge of the Sahara Desert.

Based on our experience in less-developed regions around the globe, we know a key part of the answer to securing economic wellbeing for people living in one of the poorest nations on earth is providing access to basic education.
