Exploration

One of the world’s major undeveloped copper deposits

Haquira is located in the Andes in the Apurimac region of southern Peru at elevations of 3,500m to 4,400m and is a major undeveloped copper deposit.

The Haquira deposit was obtained through the acquisition of Antares Minerals in 2010, following which First Quantum took on additional neighboring concessions to consolidate its position, and which now comprises almost 30,000 hectares.

With near-surface copper-molybdenum-gold-silver mineralization amenable to processing in a conventional mill and concentrator operation, Haquira has excellent potential for the development of a large-scale open pit operation.

Ubiquitous in industry

Copper is vital to a number of industries. It is used to power homes, build electric vehicles and renewable energy infrastructure and a key resource in the transition to green energy.
