Our development projects are the future of our business, helping us answer the exponential demand for copper.
Our development projects are expected to push us to more than one million tonnes of annual copper production, making us one of the world’s top copper producers. These new projects are vital if we, as an industry, are to meet the expected future demand for copper.
Our operations and development projects span five continents and diverse conditions. Visit each location to find out more about our mineral producing assets and new prospects.

We develop and operate our mines, leveraging our internal expertise to ensure continuous improvement throughout each project’s lifecycle.
Stage 1
After identifying a mineral deposit, we map, sample, and assess its size, grade, and economic potential. We engage local stakeholders, plan responsibly, and secure permits while developing environmental and social management plans. This phase lays the blueprint for sustainable development.
Stage 2
We build the infrastructure needed for mining including roads, processing plants, utilities, and waste facilities. Equipment and technology are installed, and all systems are designed to meet high safety and environmental standards, readying the site for long-term production.
Stage 3
Full-scale mining begins. We extract, transport, crush, grind, and process ore through flotation and dewatering. These processes – the systems for which we are experts in constructing – produce a concentrate from the ore. In some cases, the concentrate is shipped for smelting while in others we smelt onsite. This stage spans decades and reflects our operational expertise.
Stage 4
As production winds down, we restore the site through land regrading, revegetation, and infrastructure decommissioning. Working with stakeholders, we ensure our environmental and community responsibilities are fulfilled, leaving behind a responsible legacy.
Stage 5
We continue monitoring the site post-closure – tracking water, soil, and ecological health. Issues are addressed promptly to ensure long-term environmental stability, reflecting our commitment to stewardship beyond the mine’s lifespan.
Environmental stewardship and community engagement are essential for the success of our projects and operations. We can only succeed when we look after the people and the places where we operate. For us, this means creating programs in partnership with the local community. It means creating jobs and providing training to help people take those roles on. And it means working alongside local governments and leaders to find ways to ensure we’re looking after the environment too.
